Our Assembly

June 2, 2008

On the 30th of May 2008 we held our assembly on Aberdeen and Scotland. It went really well and nobody forgot their lines! Our singing was beautiful. We think the audience found our assembly interesting. We are very proud of ourselves for doing so well and we gave our teachers Miss Weighill and Mrs Fiddes a big round of applause for helping us.

Build a Bug

May 26, 2008

Before Easter P5W were learning about germs and bugs that make us ill. In groups we designed and made our own bugs out of junk.

Here are some of our ideas!

Billy Bug

This bug is found in ears and nostrils. He will give you ear aches, aches and certain fevers.

The ONLYway to fight off this devil  is to clean your ears when you can’t hear and eat heathily-as sugar keeps it going!

Funky Bug.

The Funky bug lives in your stomach.

This bug makes you sick and gives you a sore stomach, it will bite too.

To control this bug drink one gallon of water to flush it away.

Spitacocus

Spitacocus spits on you and gives you a throat infection.

This bug spits on your throat  and all your veins swell up.

You might also get a temperature and a rasping cough.

You need to go to the Doctors and he’ll give you horrible tasting medicine.

Scorpio

It is found in your hair.

It causes Headlice wich irritates your scalp. If you’ve got an itchy head– scratch it!

This ugly bug is black and red and has spiky teeth with stripes and spots. Scorpio bug likes to eat dead skin and dandruff.

You can prevent it from happening by washing your hair often and checking often for head-lice on your head and in your hair.

If this ever happens to you, go down to your local chemist and buy a headlice comb and head-lice mouss and ask your pharmacist for help.

Hat Show - Pressure back stage!

February 27, 2008

Primary 5W organised a hat show a few weeks ago. We had fun making lovely, bright, colourful signs and of course showing our wonderful hats to the school. We designed and made the invitations for the other classes. Primary 1-7 came to see us and they really enjoyed it. We did as well!

Latest news in our Blog

February 6, 2008

One of our pupils was lucky enough to take part in Up-Helly-Aa, which is said to be a superb spectacle, a celebration of Shetland history, and a triumphant demonstration of the islanders’ skills and spirit.

To read his experiences, see pictures and his Powerpoint of this event, take a look at our Achievement’s page.

This week we have finished our hats.

February 1, 2008

For the last three weeks primary5W  have been designing and making hats. We have many different designs, these include a  beach, sweets, hobbies and other designs. Next Friday primary 5w are wearing our hats on a cat walk. Mrs Forbes has been very helpful with providing glue , other materials and making our hats. We are very thankful.

Scottish Week in Primary 5W

January 30, 2008

This  has  been a very fun and exciting week for us. We have been told stories and poems about this country. All of them have been great fun for Primary 5W. First we did a ceilidh in front of about half the school, and after that we had shortbread and Irn Bru - while listening to a storyteller.
